Early life & Academics

M.H.Jawahirullah, originally from Udangudi in Thoothukudi District, Tamil Nadu, began his educational journey at St. Mary's Anglo Indian High School in Chennai. He excelled in his studies and achieved a First Class result in the School Leaving Certificate Exams.

Continuing his education, he pursued a Pre-University Course and completed his B.Com Degree Course at New College, Chennai, affiliated with the University of Madras, once again achieving First Class results. In 1983, he obtained his MBA with Distinction from the Department of Management Studies, University of Madras. Later, in 2000, he successfully completed his Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) degree.

During his M.Phil studies, his research topic was Effectiveness of Advertising over the Web, making his thesis a pioneering work in the field of web advertising. He received high commendation for his research.

In 2008, he was awarded a Ph.D. degree by the University of Madras for his thesis on Service Quality and Customer Satisfaction in Islamic (Interest Free) Banks, focusing on Bank Islam in Malaysia. His in-depth study contributed to the understanding of customer satisfaction in Islamic banking.

Overall, Jawahirullah has consistently demonstrated academic excellence and made significant contributions to research in various fields.Until 1989, Jawahirullah was associated with SIMI (Students Islamic Movement of India). However, he disassociated himself from the organisation due to its involvement in violent activities.

Jawahirullah himself has been elected as a member of the Papanasam Assembly constituency.

Jawahirullah was honored by India Today, a prominent weekly publication, with the prestigious Sigaram 15 Award, recognizing him as one of the fifteen exceptional young leaders of Tamil Nadu. The term "Sigaram" translates to "Pinnacle" in Tamil, symbolizing his remarkable achievements and leadership.
